Shipwreck Day Celebration in Anacortes:
Anacortes Shipwreck Day Celebrating its 30th year in 2010, Shipwreck Day is a giant garage sale, occupying Commercial Avenue in Anacortes from first light to 4:00 p.m. While officially opening at 8:00 a.m., a large amount of business gets conducted prior. A huge variety of "treasures" is available for sale, with many vendors leaving with more stuff than they brought. The 2010 Shipwreck Day will be held on Saturday, July 17. Admission is free. Saturday morning coffee and breakfast treats will be served on the marina dock at 8:00am.

SYC has Saturday night dinner reservations at the Elks Club in Anacortes. Prime Rib or Lemon Chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be served for $16.00 per person. Happy hour starts at 5:00pm, a no host bar will be setup and appetizers are included in the cost of the meal. If you are coming by car for the Shipwreck Day celebration on Saturday we encourage you to join us for dinner at the Elks. Please RSVP to Al & Beoma Oakley if you want to dine with the group no later than July 10th.


The marina is open year round and facilities include a 18 x 120 foot gasoline and diesel fuel dock, 20 & 30 amp power with some 50 & 100 amp power available, several (pumpouts (free), excellent restrooms, showers and laundry. BroadbandXpress wireless Internet; free wireless internet in the vicinity of the harbor office. A monorail launch can handle boats to 25,000 pounds. Haul out and propane nearby.

This is a very popular stop among cruisers because it is in the heart of downtown Anacortes with shopping, restaurants, Ace Hardware and West Marine and Marine Supply & Hardware stores within walking distance of the marina. There is free jazz and blues concerts on Friday evenings during the season. The marina floats are in the process of being replaced by wide, stable concrete floats, with wide slips and wheelchair accessible ramps to shore.

*Note: Follow the dredged and marked channel, and enter between the arms of a piling breakwater due west of Cap Sante. The harbor master’s office is just north of C&D floats.
