The town of Ucluelet is the commercial center of Barkley Sound. The channel leading into Ucluelet is well buoyed and if you follow the rule of Red, Right, Returning and you’ll have no problems. There is good anchorage at Spring Cove found a short distance inside the channel to port. Small public docks are on the town side of the inlet but are largely used by commercial fishing boats. West of the north tip of Lyche Island you’ll find the Ucluelet Small Craft Harbour. This is the principal marina and the Oak Bay Marine Group’s Canadian Princes is permanently moored there. An additional marina to consider is Island West Fishing Resort on the west side of the inlet just before the turn to small craft harbour.

There are several nice gift shops in the area including an excellent Native gallery and gift shop. In town and halfway up Ucluelet Inlet the Pioneer Boat Works has a marine railway for haulout and repairs. Their chandlery has a good stock of marine supplies, commercial and sport fishing tackle and charts. Throughout the winding streets of Ucluelet your find casual to nice dining, a large Co-op grocery and general merchandise store and other essential services.
